Chapter Eighteen

Caroline lost herself in his caresses. AJ teased her ear with his tongue, licked a damp line down her throat and sucked at the rapid pulse he found there. Only sensations mattered. Only action spoke for her. She tilted her hips up to meet his and his hand dipped between her thighs to find her wet, and ready. She threw her head back as his fingers teased her.

Her thoughts focused solely on the moment, the sensations he was causing in her and on her skin. When he leaned over her on both elbows to lower himself and tease her with the tip of his erection, she cried out. Her nails dug into his back and he sank himself into her, deeply, slowly, fully. He grunted, satisfied.

AJ’s sensual gaze hadn’t left her face as he entered her. He withdrew and she bit her bottom lip, her pent-up need almost too much to bear. Touching himself to her again he asked her, “Are you ready, love?”

She nodded, clinging to him, arching and straining to feel him in her again. Then he plunged in, rocking back to repeat the motion over and over. She groaned, her body shaking with the effort of restraint. She opened her eyes as he built a rhythm, rocking her with him, his gaze holding hers. He slid an arm under her and braced her for the onslaught. She held on, biting his shoulder as they rode their passion higher and higher. She could barely take a breath, her body coiling, close to release when he stiffened. A hotness poured into her and he shuddered. His shoulders glistened and his skin began to cool. He was sated and slumped a little onto her. When she expected him to pull away, his hand slid between them and found her sensitized folds and he began to play with her, touching and fondling the wet skin, driving her wild.

“Oh, God!” She climaxed, her nipples stiffening and her body quivering.

AJ smiled tenderly at her. He’d let her in. His walls were down, and he was himself with her. No more gruff, military specialist, only the man who had, with great restraint, made love to her.

He dotted kisses around her mouth. His skin was damp, and it shone in the pale light from the stove.

Caroline exhausted and still blissful moved to sit with her back to the bunk, getting out of the cool draft at the door.

AJ sat up, too. He propped an elbow on his raised knee. She watched his face become neutral as he retreated into himself, and she reached out to stroke his cheek. He leaned his face against her hand and kissed her palm, his beard rough against her palm.

She shivered, her damp skin catching the chill in the air. The log in the stove was a pile of embers. He pulled his coat up from the base of the door to wrap it around her before he turned to load more wood into the stove.

She studied his muscular form as he crouched.
